Sea Fishing Locations in the North West of England
Cumbria: Arguably the United Kingdoms most picturesque county with the stunning Lake District National Park at its heart. Although less well known Cumbria also has a beautiful stretch of coastline on the Irish Sea. With towns such as Workington, Whitehaven and Gretna there are a number of bases from which the visiting angler can explore this coastline.
Lancashire: Although only a small county in terms of area Lancashire does have a very large population thanks to a number of large towns and cities within its boundaries. Arguably the most famous coastal town in the area is Blackpool with its theme parks and arcades. The county does have a huge variety of sea fishing locations for the visiting angler with decent fish caught throughout the year. We have picked a number of varied and different locations at wheretoseafish for anglers of all abilities.
Cheshire & Merseyside: Weymouth and Portland are fantastic fishing areas. The area has fantastic beaches awesome harbours and incredible rock fishing locations all of which produce great fish. Portland itself holds the British record for Wrasse and Chesil boasts several other shore caught records. With the Olympics having been in the town the profile of this area is only going to increase so give the area a go soon for some excellent sport.
Isle of Man: Chesil Beach is probably one of the most iconic names amongst fisherman anywhere around the British Isles. This long stretch of shingle beach starting at Epe in the West and running to Portland in the East attracts thousands of anglers every year. This is a beach where local knowledge on tides and specific spots is key as the beach can be extremely hit and miss. I have tried to highlight the most prevalent and fished areas that year on year produce good bags of fish.
