Sea Fishing Locations in Devon
Devon is one of England’s most scenic and beautiful counties and also offers some brilliant fishing locations for all anglers of all abilities. Whether it be the jaw dropping cliffs, beautiful sandy beaches or hidden harbours Devon has the fishing for you.
As with every county I have handpicked the areas that offer the biggest variety of fishing options, whilst being close to large towns for access and convenience, these include;
Exmouth: Large amounts of the Devonshire coast are dominated by high cliffs and large estuaries. Sitting at the mouth of the river Ex is Exmouth. This charming town is at the heart of a fantastic fishing area with good all year round venues and species to be caught for anglers of all abilities and targeting all sorts of fish. I have picked a list of some of my favourite locations close to this area.
Sidmouth: Sidmouth is a town situated on the English Channel coast in Devon, South West England,14 miles to the east of Exeter. Sidmouth lies at the mouth of the River Sid in a valley between Peak Hill to the west and Salcombe Hill to the east. It is surrounded by the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is on the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site and the South West Coast Path. Sidmouth offers a wide variety of fishing close to the town and in the surrounding areas.
Torquay: Often referred to as the heart of the English Riviera Torquay is the perfect location for exploring the wild Devonshire coast. We have handpicked a number of sea fishing locations within a short trip from Torquay center. Although more famed as a tourist spot for beach goers Torquay is also blessed with some great fishing beaches and is close to multiple estuaries and harbours.
Plymouth: Straddling the Devon/Cornwall border is the city of Plymouth. Plymouth has long been a popular spot for fisherman with its boat fishing almost more famous than its shore fishing thanks to marks such as Eddystone Lighthouse. Despite this Plymouth does have a number of fantastic shore fishing locations on its doorstep with specimen wrasse, congers and bass a real possibility.
North Devon Coast: is a long stretch of coast roughly between Bideford to the West and Lynton is the East. More famous for its surf beaches than its fishing this can often be an overlooked part of the country by the shore angler. There are however a number of great fishing locations along this coast and we have handpicked our favourites.
