Sea Fishing Locations in Somerset
Somerset is one of the Wests most scenic and beautiful counties and also offers some brilliant fishing locations for all anglers of all abilities. Whether it be the jaw dropping cliffs, beautiful sandy beaches or tidal estuaries Somerset has the fishing for you.
As with every county I have handpicked the areas that offer the biggest variety of fishing options, whilst being close to large towns for access and convenience,these include;
Clevedon: Bournemouth is a beautiful south coast seaside town. Situated in Dorset it nestles between the New Forrest to the East and the Jurassic Coast to the west. Bournemouth provides a large number of excellent fishing locations. I have included some of my favourite spots. The area I am concerned with runs between Hengistbury head to the east up to Branksome in the west.
Minehead: Christchurch is situated on the eastern border of Dorset and Hampshire. It has a rich fishing heritage, and has the Royalty and Throop fishery very close by. It also boasts excellent sea fishing, especially for bass, mullet, sea trout and flounders. I have included 5 of my favourite places to fish in Christchurch, but there are inevitably more. From beaches to estuaries to harbours Christchurch seems to cater for all.
Weston Super Mare: Poole homes the world’s second largest natural harbour. This allows for some fantastic fishing locations. The bass, mullet and flounder fishing is some of the best anywhere. The area also allows a tremendous variety of fishing. Studland is a beautiful stretch of beach, owned by the National Trust, with the iconic Old Harrys Rocks to the West and the mouth of Poole Harbour to the East. All in all this is an excellent place to come fishing, and is where I have caught several of my personal best fish.
